Why TikTok's Safe Zone Is Asymmetric
In-Feed Ads (9:16)
TikTok In-Feed has a 242px (22.4%) right-side action column (like, comment, share, follow, audio) covering the full frame height, a 707px (36.8%) bottom zone for captions and "Sponsored" badge, a 122px (11.3%) left margin, and 254px (13.2%) top for the account header. Your usable canvas is a rectangle shifted toward the upper-left. If you want to see how your creative looks in an actual TikTok feed, try the ad preview tool.
This is why I always recommend checking TikTok ads with the overlay before publishing -the asymmetric right-side column catches people off guard.
Top View Ads (9:16)
Top View has smaller margins than In-Feed: 176px (9.2%) top, 280px (14.6%) bottom, and symmetric 124px (11.5%) sides. If you've designed to the In-Feed safe zone, your creative is automatically safe on Top View too - but you have more bottom canvas to work with if you optimize specifically for this placement.
