Step 1
MetaAre your ads spending?
Check if the campaign status shows "Active" and budget is being used.

Hey, Nico from Adkit here 👋 I've been doing ads for over 10 years now, and I built this diagnostic tool from the exact methodology I used when i was freelancing and was paid to do account analysis. Today, you can use it for free to diagnose your ads, enjoy :)
P.S. You can also see the full decision tree here (optimized for Meta ads).
NOTE: The thresholds (3,000 impressions, frequency above 3, etc.) come public benchmarks + my own experience running and analyzing thousands of campaigns. Solid starting point for 90% of cases IMO, but adapt as needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why aren't my Facebook ads spending?
The most common reasons are: audience too small (aim for 100,000+), payment method issues, policy violations on the ad or landing page, or incorrect scheduling. Try duplicating the ad and relaunching it. If nothing works, contact Meta support directly.
How many impressions do I need before judging ad performance?
At least 3,000 impressions. Below that, the data is too noisy to draw conclusions. The algorithm also needs volume to optimize delivery. Making changes too early can actually hurt performance by resetting the learning phase.
What is a good CTR for ads?
It depends on the platform. On Meta (Facebook/Instagram), aim for 3-5% CTR (all) and 2%+ outbound CTR. On TikTok, similar ranges apply but outbound CTR benchmarks are lower (~1%). LinkedIn has much lower benchmarks: 0.5-1% CTR is considered healthy. Use our CTR Calculator for detailed analysis.
What does ad fatigue look like?
Ad fatigue happens when your frequency gets too high (above 3 on Meta, 4 on LinkedIn). Signs include declining CTR, rising CPM, and fewer conversions over time. The fix is simple: launch new creatives, test new audiences, and pause saturated ad sets for 2-4 weeks before relaunching.
Why did my ads suddenly stop working?
Sudden performance drops are usually caused by seasonal competition (Q4, Black Friday, holidays), algorithm resets after budget changes, or audience saturation. Check if the timing lines up with a major shopping event. If not, try lowering your budget temporarily, then duplicate and relaunch the campaign.
How do I know if my landing page is the problem?
Look for a big drop-off between ad clicks and conversions. If people click your ad but don't convert, the issue is likely on the landing page, not the ad. Install a session recording tool like Microsoft Clarity (free) or Hotjar to see exactly where users drop off and what confuses them.
Does this tool work for all ad platforms?
Yes. The troubleshooter covers Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, and LinkedIn. Each platform has different performance thresholds (e.g. what counts as "high CPM" varies significantly). Select your platform at the top and the diagnostic will adjust all benchmarks accordingly.
