Campaign Fields

Add platform prefix

Only needed if your reports blend platforms in one column.

Product goes first: campaign lists sort by the first field, so lead with what you'd scan for.

What you're promoting. Leave blank to skip it.
What you want the campaign to achieve, like sales or leads
Launch month, year-first so names sort in order
How warm the audience is: cold (TOF) to ready-to-buy (BOF)
Who you're targeting, from past visitors (RTG) to new people (Broad)
Which market, as a 2-letter country code (US, UK, DE)

Tips & Insights

  • 📏 This name is over 30 characters. Report columns often truncate long names. Product already leads, so keep it short, or trim a later field.
  • 💡 Only add the platform prefix if your reports blend multiple platforms into one column. Inside Meta or Google, every campaign already belongs to that platform.
  • ⚠️ You've got 8 objective codes. More than a handful gets hard for a team to remember consistently.
  • 💭 Tip: Your utm_campaign should mirror this exact string. Use the UTM Builder to build the tagged link.
  • 📌 Tip: Retiring an old campaign? Prefix it with ZZ_ to drop it to the bottom of every sorted list.

Now tag your links

Your utm_campaign should mirror this campaign name. Build the tagged URL next.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this campaign name generator for?

It builds consistent names for your ad and marketing campaigns across Meta, Google, TikTok and other platforms, so your reporting stays clean and every campaign follows the same format.

What's the best delimiter for campaign names?

An underscore between fields. It survives every platform, spreadsheet export and tracking tag without breaking, unlike spaces or slashes.

Should my campaign name match my utm_campaign?

Yes. Use the same fields in the same order in both places. Build the matching tagged link with our UTM Builder.

Do I need the platform prefix?

Only if your reports blend campaigns from several platforms into one column, like a shared dashboard or spreadsheet export. Inside a single platform's own interface, every campaign already belongs to it.

Why does field order matter?

Sorted campaign lists key off the first field, so lead with what you would scan for, usually the product or offer. Keep the same field order every time so names line up and sort predictably. Report columns also cut long names off, so the distinctive part should come first.

How do I retire an old campaign name?

Prefix it with ZZ_ so it drops to the bottom of every sorted list. For campaigns still spending real money under an old format, prefix with LEGACY_ instead of mass-renaming.

Can an AI agent use this naming convention?

Yes. Use the "Copy your naming rules" button above and paste the block into your agent's instructions. Every campaign it drafts will come out named consistently. Read more in the naming conventions guide.
