Why MagicBrief's price was so hard to find

MagicBrief never published a full price list. Pro started at $249/month, and what you actually paid depended on two inputs: how much you spent on ads, and how many people were on the team. Both were settled in a quote rather than on a page.

The tool got more expensive as the account it was watching got bigger, whether or not you used it any more than before. Reviewers flagged it constantly, and Foreplay led its comparison page with it.

The second tier, Creative Intelligence, had no published price at all. It added onboarding, a dedicated customer success manager, and invoice billing, and it started with a sales conversation.

AdKit prices the other way: $29/month for one ad project, $49/month for unlimited, identical at any ad spend.

Keep in mind

Hidden costs and fine print

The price moved with your ad spend

MagicBrief's Pro plan scaled with monthly ad spend and team size. Scaling a winning campaign raised your software bill even when your usage of the software did not change.

You could not see a price without a call

$249/month was a floor, not a quote. Every plan required a custom quote, a recurring complaint in independent reviews of MagicBrief.

Three-month minimum after the trial

The 7-day trial converted into a minimum three-month commitment, then monthly billing. Trying it for one month was not an option.

The product can no longer be bought

MagicBrief shut down on July 31, 2026 at 8 PM EST. Billing for existing customers was cancelled and there are no further charges. Pricing here is historical.

Verdict

Was MagicBrief worth $249 a month?

For the teams it was built for, the price held up. MagicBrief sold to performance marketing teams at DTC brands and agencies, the kind spending enough on media that $249 disappeared into the budget. MagicBrief said unlimited seats and free client viewers meant one quote covered everybody.

For everyone else it was the most expensive entry point in its category. Foreplay sat around $49/month and Atria around $39. Solo marketers and small teams were priced out on purpose.

That question closed on July 31, 2026. What is left to decide is where the research job goes now. AdKit is $29/month for one ad project and $49/month for unlimited, flat at any ad spend, with a 7-day free trial and no minimum term.

AdKit

Consider AdKit

AdKit covers the research half MagicBrief owned and the launch half it never had: competitor tracking by URL, a 500k+ ad library across Meta, Google, and LinkedIn, creative generation in Studio, and a draft-first MCP. From $29/month, $49/month for unlimited.

Alternative

MagicBrief shut down: the alternative for the job Canva Grow dropped

MagicBrief shut down on July 31, 2026. Canva Grow, the product it pointed users to, creates and launches ads, but teardowns report the swipe file, the competitor tracking, and the ad library did not come with it. AdKit is built around exactly that job, and it also makes the ad.
